The documentary is set to premiere on the streaming platform on July 31 and already has a packed roster of WWE talent, family and friends ready to talk about the life and times of Cody, along with the massive legacy and shadow cast by his famous father, acclaimed WWE Superstar and Hall of Famer, Dusty Rhodes.

“When your dad is on the sports entertainment Mount Rushmore, it’s going to be a unique ride,” Cody says at the top of the newly released trailer for the upcoming documentary.

The trailer teases massive moments in Rhodes’ career including his green days starting out, his turn to the high-concept character Stardust, his eventual break from WWE, his return and even the wild moment in which he wrestled Seth “Freakin” Rollins despite a nasty-looking injury. There to comment on his journey are prominent Superstars like The Undertaker, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Ric Flair, Kevin Owens and more.

“Cody Rhodes grew up living in the shadow of his father, WWE Hall of Famer ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes. In 2016, Cody risked it all by leaving WWE to make a name for himself, becoming the ‘American Nightmare,’” the documentary’s synopsis reads. “This intimate and revealing documentary follows Cody’s journey away from the WWE, and his return at WrestleMania 38 last year, as he chases the dream of winning the WWE championship, the one title his father was never able to claim. Through never-before-seen footage & unprecedented access, this Peacock Original illustrates the transformation of a man who is blazing a new trail in sports entertainment.”

As the trailer promises, the documentary will be a raw, unfiltered look at the Superstar’s career in his very own words with parts that he personally demanded not be edited in any way shape or form. Perhaps some fans in the WWE Universe will have some questions about Cody’s personal life and career decisions finally answered. Those curious will just have to tune in to WWE American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes to find out.
