Who are Anna Pigeon’s Jordan Sledz, Nikki Hallow, and Crystal Lightning?
The series marks the first major TV role for Sledz. The native of Macklin, Saskatchewan, appeared in Canadian commercials and shorts before landing small parts on The Last of Us, Heartland, and Kevin Costner’s The West. He’ll portray Anna Pigeon’s old flame, Zach Redhill, a classically trained actor.
U.S. audiences will also be introduced to Nikki Hallow, a Canadian acting coach who spent years tickling the funny bone with her Edmonston-based sketch comedy troupe Marv n’ Berry, as well as the bawdy all-female group Sketchy Broads. In Anna Pigeon, she’ll show off her dramatic range. She plays Christina Clark, a park administrative assistant who is a single mom going through a tough divorce.
Crystle Lightening will bring Frieda Dierke to life, a character from the Anna Pigeon novel Blind Descent. The “dispatcher and backbone of the park,” works with Anna and “makes it her business to know everyone else’s business,” according to Deadline.
You might recognize the First Nations actress from TV shows like Outlander, Rutherford Falls, and the comedy Ghosts. After moving from Canada to Los Angeles at 9 with her family, she made a name for herself in a variety of realms, from DJ to hip-hop MC to a Canadian Screen Award-winning actress (Trickster). Lightening has stage experience too, as the co-creator and star of the musical Bear Grease, which gives the 1978 classic Grease an Indigenous spin.
The trio joins the main cast, which also includes Ronnie Rowe Jr. (FBI Agent Frederick Stanton), Manuel Rodriguez-Saenz (Manny López), Cooper Levy (Jesse Garland), and Ryan Northcott (Geoff Miller), Paulina Alexis (Zoey Bear Child) and Tricia Hefler (Molly Pigeon).
