At Crown Jewel, Logan Paul put to rest any speculation that he didn’t have what it takes to contend for the top championship in WWE. However, his immediate future in the ring is now something of a concern for fans.

In one of the most thrilling, intense, and dramatic main events in recent memory, Paul stood toe-to-toe with Roman Reigns for over 20 minutes, ultimately failing in his bid to capture the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. You know, you can always tell how close Reigns is to losing by how loudly Paul Heyman is screaming at ringside — and let’s just say that we’re pretty sure Heyman lost his voice by the end of the night.

The match itself, highlighted by Paul somehow topping his jaw-dropping SummerSlam moment in an authentically Logan Paul way, served as the moment when the WWE Universe collectively realized that not only was Paul worthy of being in the ring, but he was just as exciting and skilled as many of his contemporaries. Although Roman Reigns retained his titles to continue his unbelievable title reign, it seemed Paul would be a thorn in the side of the Tribal Chief for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately, Logan Paul did not emerge from the match unscathed, putting his immediate future in the WWE in jeopardy.

Instead of logging on to social media to talk about his performance in Saudi Arabia, Logan Paul had some sobering news to share to the world.

This is devastating news for Paul. Not only will these specific knee injuries put him on the shelf for up to a year, a full recovery — as it is for all professional athletes — is not guaranteed. Just this year in the NFL, Baltimore Ravens star running back J.K. Dobbins has struggled with returning from a similar own devastating knee injury he suffered last year. It’s a long, arduous journey back to top form, and that’s a lesson Logan Paul will have to learn the hard way.

Paul’s mouth opened the door to a promising WWE career, and his athleticism and physical abilities catapulted him into the upper echelon of Superstars after just a handful of matches. His unique hybrid wrestling style relies extensively on Paul explosively performing moves that heavily rely on his legs, whether it’s flipping off the top rope or catapulting himself through the air. Obviously an injury that affects his knee is something to keep an eye on going forward.

What is most astonishing is that Paul admitted that he suffered his injuries in the middle of the match! That reveal, while admirable, brings up an important question: Did Paul make the injury even worse by continuing on in the match? At this point, it’s impossible to say.

While Paul hasn’t commented further on his injury status, the WWE Universe is on the edge of their seats waiting for more news to emerge. Maybe, just maybe, the injury isn’t as serious as first thought. However, fans around the world who were mesmerized by Logan Paul’s performance at Crown Jewel may have to temper their expectations, as it seems a lengthy stay on the injured list is in the cards for WWE’s newest Superstar.
