John Cena Steals the Show with Nude Moment at the 2024 Oscars

For a man whose catchphrase is "You Can't See Me," Oscars 2024 viewers sure got an eyeful of John Cena.

It's not every day that you'll hear the words "John Cena," "naked," and "awards show" in the same sentence, but here we are.

How to Watch

Watch Monday Night RAW every Monday evening at 8/7c on USA Network. Stream more exciting WWE series on Peacock.

John Cena showed up to a nationally televised awards show (mostly) naked.

What a time to be alive, huh?

The 16-time WWE world champion made quite the impression on millions of viewers watching the 2024 Oscars on March 10 when he took an opportunity to participate in a comedy bit orchestrated by host, Jimmy Kimmel – all while showing off his impressive physique that the WWE Universe knows all too well.

Why Was John Cena Naked During the 2024 Oscars?

In true John Cena fashion, he proved once again that he will do anything he can to entertain, even if it means showing up in his birthday suit to one of the most prestigious award shows in the world.

Before Cena was set to present the award for Best Costume Design, host Jimmy Kimmel began the segment by noting it had been 50 years since the Oscars ceremony was infamously delayed due to a streaker running across the stage. After quipping, "Can you imagine if a nude man ran across the stage today?" audiences caught Cena cowering behind the curtain.

"I changed my mind, I don't want to do the streaker bit anymore," Cena quietly confessed.

After a brief (and hilarious) back-and-forth that included a well-delivered jorts reference (a nod to Cena's trademark WWE attire), Cena was convinced to go through with the pre-planned bit. After a few moments of awkward shuffling – covered only by an envelope marked "Costume Designer" – Cena haphazardly presented the award as planned.

We're not sure how any of the celebrities in attendance could focus on what John Cena was saying, as his superhero-esque (and mostly nude) physique was fully on display – how distracting! What award was he presenting, again?

It was an instantly iconic Oscars moment – and if you ask us, the only thing missing was a quick plug for next month's WrestleMania. (But don't worry, we'll do that right now.)

Did Other WWE Superstars Appear During the 2024 Oscars?

Don't worry; John Cena wasn't the only WWE Superstar to appear on the telecast. Fully-clothed versions of The Rock and Bad Bunny also appeared, presenting the Best International Feature Film award. Before the pair announced the winning film, Bad Bunny spoke candidly about the importance of cinema, calling it the "universal language."

"Beautifully said," The Rock replied. "You see, he's not such a bad bunny. Happy birthday, brother."

Bad Bunny, celebrating his recent 30th birthday, responded in kind to The Rock's well wishes: "Gracias. Thank you."

Interestingly, fans witnessed a version of The Rock that was far removed from his recent persona on WWE television. The Rock has firmly embraced his villain side in recent weeks, and The Great One has capitalized on every opportunity to throw shade at the WWE Universe and Superstars like Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins.

With WrestleMania less than a month away, we have a feeling more and more WWE Superstars will be popping up across countless media outlets to promote the massive multi-day event. However, we're reasonably confident no Superstar will toe the line of good taste as much as John Cena did over the weekend, despite clips of Cena's naked body officially crossing over into viral territory in the past 24 hours.

So, with that, USA Insider will now transition back to our regularly scheduled, non-naked WWE programming. Carry on.

You can tune in to Peacock to watch WrestleMania on April 6 and 7. In the meantime, catch up on all things WWE Universe on Peacock.
