The Miz And Maryse Go Full 'Top Gun' Parody In Promo For WrestleMania 39
The WWE's power couple parodied "Top Gun" to promote The Miz's upcoming hosting gig on WrestleMania 39.
The duo star in a brief promotional clip that opens on an aircraft carrier in the middle of the ocean before cutting to the dynamic WWE Superstar couple walking on the deck clad in the trademark flight suit and aviators that Tom Cruise made famous in “Top Gun” and “Top Gun: Maverick.” That said, in true Maryse style, her flight suit has a much lower-cut top to show off her assets in a way that would make Goose blush.
“I feel the need, the need for speed,” The Miz quotes from the movie before they do the film's signature high-five.
Immediately, Miz complains that the hit was a little too hard and could have injured his “mic hand” ahead of his hosting gig next month.
“It’s a big deal!” he declares, prompting his wife to give him a bigger deal to worry about by grabbing his infamous nether regions.
“Even bigger than these great balls of fire?” she asks.
“Both are massive events,” he responds.
The high-octane promo ends with Maryse making a deep-cut “Top Gun” reference by suggesting they kill time doing something awesome like “buzzing the tower.” Unfortunately, they won’t have time before their scheduled shirts vs. skins volleyball game (ever the strategist, the Miz of course calls shirts).
Both Superstars shared a quick behind-the-scenes video of their time on the set of the big “Top Gun”-themed shoot, showcasing how much fun they had and how it was really filmed. It sounds like they’re having a great time, keeping busy and getting themselves ready in the most extreme way possible ahead of WrestleMania 39.
The Miz announced during RAW last month that he had been tapped to be the official host of the Show of Shows this year during a special edition of MizTV. It’s fitting for a man who has dubbed himself a Hollywood A-Lister to host the night live from Hollywood itself. The job puts him in the same category as other WrestleMania hosts from past years such as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Rob Gronkowski, and other WWE Superstars such as Alexa Bliss and The New Day.
Now fans just have to wait to see how he’ll do.
