Conspiracies, Lies & Murder: The Rainmaker Sneak Peek Gives a Taste of Shocking Court Case to Come (WATCH)
The series adaptation of John Grisham's bestselling novel, The Rainmaker, premieres on USA Network Friday, August 15.
Get out your umbrella because a first-look clip from USA Network's The Rainmaker has arrived ahead of its August 15 debut!
Streaming exclusively on Peacock, the footage centers around a legal conversation between Rudy Baylor (Milo Callaghan), Jocelyn "Bruiser" Stone (Lana Parrilla), and Deck Shifflet (PJ Byrne) regarding the death of a former opioid addict. Stone wants to take a $50,000 settlement, but Baylor insists there's more to the case, which he wants to argue in court, despite the fact that he's not even a full lawyer yet, and go up against the dreaded Leo Drummond (John Slattery).
Nevertheless, Stone gives in, giving the newbie three weeks to make a solid case without spending any money. She even drops the show's title, stating: "What are you really willing to do to be a rainmaker?" For those of you who don't practice law, the phrase refers to an attorney that is exceptionally good at drumming up business for their firm.
Dan Fogler (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Wade Briggs (His Dark Materials), and Robyn Cara (Ackley Bridge) round out the main cast.

The series is based on John Grisham's 1995 novel of the same name. It was previously brought to the screen in feature form by The Godfather director Francis Ford Coppola in 1997 and starred the likes of Matt Damon, Claire Danes, Danny DeVito, Mickey Rourke, Danny Glover, Jon Voigt, and Jaws alum Roy Scheider.
The small screen adaptation is produced by Lionsgate Television and Blumhouse Television. Showrunner Michael Seitzman is an executive producer with Patrick Moran, Jason Richman, David Gernert, Jason Blum, and Grisham himself.
"The Rainmaker began as John Grisham’s fastest-selling novel, then became a feature film, and now, it’s a TV series," showrunner and executive producer Michael Seitzman said via press release. "What is it about this story that keeps drawing people in? Maybe it’s the David-and-Goliath legal thriller, the dangerous romance or the coming-of-age story. For me, above all, it’s the characters. They jumped off the page in John’s book and were a joy to expand upon in our show. Not to mention, Milo Callaghan, who plays Rudy Baylor, is your next crush."

The Rainmaker premieres on USA Network Friday, August 15 at at 10 p.m. ET/PT. All of the 10 episodes, which clock in at an hour apiece, will be available to stream on Peacock one week after they air.
