USA Network’s new legal drama, The Rainmaker, is almost here, and with it, a slew of new and exciting characters for audiences to fall in love with. However, perhaps none are as cutting, badass, and crushworthy as Lana Parrilla’s Jocelyn “Bruiser” Stone.

How to Watch

The Rainmaker premieres Friday, August 15 at 10/9c on USA Network.

Based on the novel by John Grisham, The Rainmaker tells the story of a young, gifted lawyer who finds himself on the outs of the big, respectable law firm in town and is thus forced to join a much, much smaller operation. That operation is run by none other than the infamous Bruiser.

In a new promo for the series, Parrilla — who's playing a genderbent version of the character first portrayed by Mickey Rourke in the 1997 film — takes us on a journey to introduce her character, who begins by confidently stating the only three things she needs in this world: “Kentucky bourbon, a bloody steak, and a man who won’t spend the night.”

If that doesn't tell you all you need to know about Bruiser, Parrilla gets into more detail.

“Bruiser is ballsy and brassy, and she wants to win, and she will do whatever it takes to win,” she explains in the video.

Indeed, it’s clear from the promo that Bruiser doesn’t allow anyone, especially opposing counsel, to run roughshod over her or her team. On the contrary, she seems to constantly project the appearance of someone who is holding all the cards, even when she’s not.

How, then, does that impact the show’s main protagonist, Rudy Baylor (Milo Callaghan)?

“The way Brusier approaches Rudy Baylor: she believes in him in the ways that she wishes her father would have her,” the actress explains. “Rudy sort of awakens her inner morality… and doing good for people who have been horribly wronged. This is a woman who is not afraid to speak her mind.”

Her propensity to speak her mind as well as her impeccably commanding screen presence led to her getting the title line for the show. As the first-look trailer for The Rainmaker showed, Bruiser is the one who delivers the intriguing line: “If you want to screw the people who screwed our client, what are you willing to do to be a rainmaker?"

Viewers will find out exactly what Rudy is willing to do when The Rainmaker premieres on USA Network on August 15. In the meantime, you can check out the trailer for the show as well as Bruiser’s introduction video.
