Nothing gets the WWE Universe riled up quite like rumors of a fan-favorite Superstar returning for one last match. In this case, that Superstar just happens to be arguably the best wrestler of all time, Shawn Michaels.

How to Watch

The Heartbreak Kid officially retired from WWE after losing to The Undertaker at WrestleMania 26 in 2010, but has had fans hot on his tail since that day begging him for just one more match. Mr. WrestleMania succumbed to the WWE Universe and did return for one final match, teaming with Triple H to take on the Brothers of Destruction at the WWE Super Showdown event in 2018. While the match was underwhelming by some members of the WWE Universe’s standards, it was simply magical to see Michaels in the ring once again.

Now that fans know that Michaels is still capable of wrestling, however, rumors of yet another Shawn Michaels match run rampant every WrestleMania season. Last year, rumors of an AJ Styles versus HBK match took the internet by storm, but that dream bout never came to fruition. This year is no different, as rumors of a Shawn Michaels versus Kevin Owens match are starting to catch fire online as well. The WWE Hall of Famer joined the “Culture State” podcast for an interview yesterday where he shut down those rumors and talked about why he will never return to the squared circle.

“No, no. Once a decade, yeah no. I’ve had that final match. Nope. Father time waits on no man. I’m good. And I’m unbelievably happy with my career, and it is now time to watch the next generation flourish," he said.

We can’t blame him. How can Michaels not be happy with the outcome of his career? In addition, let’s not forget that the Showstopper still works for WWE and has a big influence on the NXT shows that we see every week. Michaels was promoted to the Senior Vice President of Talent Development and Creative by Triple H, so it’s not like WWE and its fans are without the Hall of Famer.
