The WWE universe, including some prominent Superstars, paid tribute to one of its Hall of Famers, Ozzy Osbourne, following his death at age 76.

How to Watch

Watch WWE Friday Night SmackDown Fridays at 8/7c on USA Network.

The famous Black Sabbath singer, known for hits like “Crazy Train” as well as his family-centered reality show The Osbournes, died on July 22, 2025. His family released a statement announcing the news that read: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

While the Prince of Darkness had many fans throughout many wings of the entertainment industry, many may not know he was a WWE Hall of Famer and a big fan of WWE, having been inducted in the Class of 2021. He made many appearances over the years in WWE, and his legendary song “War Pigs” has served as the theme for NXT TakeOver: WarGames and Survivor Series: WarGames.

The WWE’s tribute to Osbourne notes he first appeared in the ring on the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania 2, where he teamed with Captain Lou Albano to manage the British Bulldogs when they captured the World Tag Team Championship. He would go on to make appearances throughout the 2000s. Obviously, a rocker of Ozzy's stature deserves no less than the WrestleMania stage, and he stuck with the brand to make an impact on many Superstars over the years.

WWE Superstars Pay Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne Following His Death

Ozzy Osbourne bites Triple H on the arm – WWE

It didn’t take long for some of the biggest Superstars in the business to eulogize The Prince of Darkness in their own way after they heard news of his passing, starting with current WWE Chief Content Officer and fellow Hall of Famer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque

“Rock and Roll Heaven just received The Prince of Darkness, and if I know Lem, he asked what took you so Fkn'g long to get up there!!” he wrote. “Ozzy was one of a kind. His relentless passion for music was something I always looked up to. From the moment I heard the first riff of Paranoid I was hooked on this sound that I never heard before. My dream turned into reality as Ozzy would become involved with @WWE and eventually inducted into the Hall of Fame.”

He concluded with a note to Osbourne’s family as well as the lyrics to the song “Hellraiser.”

Drew McIntyre wrote: “I thought Ozzy would outlive us all. Thank you for keeping us going on those long road trips. RIP Prince of Darkness.”

Meanwhile, Damian Priest offered a note of thanks to the late rocker.

“The tunes. The memories. The inspirations. Thank you. RIP Ozzy,” he wrote on X.

Bronson Reed kept it simple with a black heart emoji over a black-and-white photo of the late metal singer.

NXT Superstar Priscilla Kelly got straight to the point writing: “Ozzy F---ing Osbourne.”

Ozzy Osbourne's WWE Highlights

Obviously, it goes without saying that one of Ozzy’s biggest moments in WWE came in 2021 when he accepted his position in the WWE Hall of Fame. Although he couldn’t appear at the event in person, he released a heartfelt and enthusiastic message remotely.

“Thank you so much, WWE, for this amazing award. I don’t deserve it, but thanks anyway. It’s all about the fans, really. Our fans keep us alive, man. It’s all about them,” he said at the time.

But how did Ozzy get into the Hall of Fame? As mentioned, he appeared ringside for the WrestleMania 2 bout between the British Bulldogs and The Dream Team, where he helped lead a new Tag Team Champion duo to victory — and looked awesome in his bright pink suit while doing it.

Throughout the 2000s, he was more of an in-ring presence — most notably in 2009, when he and his wife, Sharon, guest-hosted Monday Night Raw. While there, they had a great rapport with the audience and several top Superstars, including Shawn Michaels, Big Show, and The Miz. They even presided over a small segment called “Raw’s Got Talent,” where some WWE Superstars got to showcase their talents for him and Sharon.

Lastly, one of Ozzy’s best roles in WWE is as a hype man for War Games. As mentioned, his song “War Pigs” is the unofficial theme of the event, and he showed up to film one of the most intense and amped-up TV spots for the event two years ago. Just try and watch the below video without getting excited for some in-ring mayhem.

While his work with WWE may not be the first accolade that comes to mind when people think about the late rockstar’s legacy, it was certainly a terrific showcase of his talents both as a musician and overall entertainer that's not going to be forgotten any time soon.
