Alan Cumming Hosts Peacock's 'The Traitors' In Remote Scottish Castle – What To Know

Can "The Faithful" overcome "The Traitors" to win this enormous, high-stakes prize?

By Caitlin Busch

If you think you've got trust issues, think again. Today, Peacock announced the upcoming premiere of its new competition series, "The Traitors," which will pit contestants against one another to figure out who amongst "The Faithful" are the titular "Traitors." Hosted by Tony Award-winning, Emmy-nominated actor Alan Cumming — delightfully self-described in his Instagram bio as a "Scottish elf trapped inside middle-aged man’s body" — the 10-episodes series is set to premiere on Peacock on Jan. 12.

"Set in a remote castle in the Scottish Highlands and based on the wildly popular Dutch series of the same name, 5-time Emmy-nominated Alan Cumming plays host to 20 larger-than-life personalities (including reality A-listers and America’s best game players) who come together to complete a series of challenges with the objective of earning a cash prize of up to $250,000," per a press release. "The catch? Three of the contestants coined 'the traitors' will devise a plan to steal the prize from the other contestants coined 'the faithful.'"

This list of A-listers and "America's best game players" includes Arie Luyendyk Jr. ("Bachelor/Bachelorette") , Brandi Glanville ("The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills"), Cirie Fields ("Survivor") , Cody Calafiore ("Big Brother") , Kate Chastain ("Below Deck") , Kyle Cooke ("Summer House") , Rachel Reilly ("Big Brother") , Reza Farahan ("Shahs of Sunset")  Ryan Lochte (Olympian) , and Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick ("Survivor") . These stars will be joined by a host of other contestants who, while less experienced in gameplay, will join their A-list counterparts in "a game chock-full of alliances, deception, and even 'murder.'"

“Studio Lambert has truly captured lightning in a bottle with our latest competition series 'The Traitors.' We can’t wait for Peacock audiences to experience and play along in this epic game of manipulation and deceit, all while the iconic Alan Cumming pulls the strings of our incredible cast to create the ultimate ‘whodunit,'" Corie Henson, EVP Entertainment Unscripted Content, NBCUniversal, said via the press release.

Stephen Lambert, CEO of Studio Lambert, added: “In a game of secrecy, suspicion, and plot twists in a Scottish castle, who better to take the helm and guide our game players through the drama and challenging missions than Alan who originally comes from Scotland."

"The Traitors" premieres on Peacock on Jan. 12.

You can watch all other sorts of competition series also on Peacock.
