Tony Shalhoub is returning to his iconic role as Adrian Monk. The actor, who earned three Emmy Awards for the USA Network original series will appear in the new Peacock film Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie. In the film, Monk returns to solve one last, very personal case involving his beloved stepdaughter, Molly, a journalist preparing for her wedding.

Speaking of weddings, while Monk was a show about a man dealing with the loss of his beloved wife, Shalhoub has been in marital bliss in his personal life for more than three decades to actress Brooke Adams. Here’s everything we know about Tony Shalhoub’s wife. 

Who is Tony Shalhoub's wife, Brooke Adams?

Brooke Adams was born in New York City on February 8, 1949 to a theater family. Her father was a producer and CBS executive while her mother was an actress. Her older sister, Lynne Adams, is also an actress and writer.

Adams started acting at a young age, eventually attending the High School of Performing Arts in New York City. She moved to Los Angeles in 1974 and earned small roles in films like Car Wash and Shock Waves before landing her breakout role as the lead in 1978’s Days of Heaven, featuring Richard Gere and Sam Shepard. She has also appeared in films like Revenge of the Body Snatchers, The Dead Zone, and Tell Me a Riddle. She has also appeared on stage with her husband in productions like The Heidi Chronicles, Lend Me a Tenor and Happy Days. On television, she has appeared in shows like Thirtysomething, Moonlighting, a web series titled All Downhill From Here and, of course, Monk.

The couple is pretty private about their lives together. But we do know that Tony Shalhoub and Brooke Adam met in 1990 while starring in the play The Heidi Chronicles in New York City. After moving to Los Angeles separately, they began dating and wed in 1992.

The couple are parents to two daughters. Adams adopted Josie Lynn Shalhoub in 1989. After she and Shalhoub wed, the two adopted another girl, Sophie Shaloub, in 1994. Josie followed in her parents footsteps by going into the entertainment industry and now works as a writer. In 2020, she welcomed her first child and Shalhoub and Adams became grandparents, according to People. Sophie isn’t active on social media, but according to her IMDB page, she has acted in All Downhill From Here, the web series written by Brooke Adams and her sister Lynne Adams.

Shalhoub and Adams met on the job, and over the course of their careers, they have been able to work together. Adams guest starred on Shalhoub's Monk five times. She played the roles of Abigail Carlyle, Edith Capriani, Leigh, Leigh Harrison, and Sheriff Margie Butterfield on the show. Most recently, she appeared as the publisher who gives Adrian the bad news that they won't be moving forward with his book in the beginning scene of Mr. Monk's Last Case. Shalhoub discussed his wife's many Monk roles during a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers in which they broke down her many unique faces and roles that crossed paths with Adrian during his myriad of mysteries throughout the years.
