The Rainmaker: Rudy Faces Off Against His Most Powerful Foe Yet in Season 2 Trailer

Order in the court, because The Rainmaker is finally back in session.

Rudy Baylor (Milo Callaghan) is riding high after his major legal win in the first look at season two of the USA Network legal drama inspired by John Grisham's best-selling novel. But not for long.

"Come on, Rudy, be happy," Jocelyn “Bruiser” Stone (Lana Parrilla) encourages him in the trailer, released Sept. 9, after defeating Leo F. Drummond (John Slattery). "You won a giant case! It was everything you wanted."

Deck Shifflet (P.J. Byrne) then jokingly quips, "Except the money."

But Rudy wastes no time celebrating. He's immediately on to his next case after receiving a letter from a young boy named Victor in need of "a good lawyer."

"I don't belong in this place," the child writes in his desperate plea from a juvenile detention center. "Bad things happen here—real bad."

Soon, Rudy is digging through Victor's records and discovers, "That boy played a prank and the judge gave him three years." And when time comes to argue the case in court, Rudy is shocked to learn he'll be facing off against his old flame Sarah Plankmore (Madison Iseman), who is put on the case by powerhouse attorney Amanda Vonn (Merle Dandridge).

But Victor's case isn't the only fight J. Lyman Stone and Associates is facing this season as Bruiser's ex-husband (Austin Nichols) resurfaces with his own enemies to vanquish. 

Despite the twist, Bruiser is ready to make it rain justice.

"I don't know how we went from a whale to two fishes," Parrilla's character quips in the preview, "but here we are."

The Rainmaker returns Friday, Oct. 16, at 10 p.m. on USA Network.
