The Rainmaker is motioning for an all-star ensemble in season two.

How to Watch

The Rainmaker premieres Friday, August 15 at 10/9c on USA Network.

Deadline announced Austin Nichols has joined the cast of the John Grisham adaptation’s second season.

The I Know What You Did Last Summer actor will play Tom Cassidy, the ex-husband of Jocelyn “Bruiser” Stone (Lana Parrilla). A former baseball player turned minor league coach, Cassidy finds himself navigating the center of a dangerous conspiracy.

As Nichols teased on X, “This character is gonna be a lot of fun to play."

Additional details are firmly under wraps, but we do know it’s likely not the first time fans will have seen Austin on screen.

His latest role follows long-term stints on One Tree Hill and The Walking Dead, plus his recent directorial debut, The Salamander King.

Based on the best-selling novel, The Rainmaker season one followed Rudy Baylor (Milo Callaghan), a newly-graduated attorney who uncovers a murder conspiracy after teaming up with Bruiser and her disheveled paralegal, Deck (P.J. Byrne).

The legal drama’s debut season, which became the network’s most-watched freshman series in seven years, also starred John Slattery, Madison Iseman, Dan Fogler, Wade Briggs and Robyn Cara.

The Rainmaker is produced by Lionsgate Television and Blumhouse Television. Michael Seitzman—who also serves as showrunner—John Grisham, Patrick Moran, Jason Richman, David Gernert and Jason Blum serve as executive producers.

USA Network revealed the show was renewed for another season in October.

“The verdict is in—The Rainmaker is returning for season two on USA Network,” said Val Boreland, President, Entertainment, Versant. “Along with our brilliant showrunner Michael Seitzman and our partners at Lionsgate and Blumhouse, we’re thrilled to build on the momentum and deliver another compelling chapter of this gripping legal drama for our viewers.”
