Suits, the nine-season legal drama that originally aired on the USA Network in the 2010s, has become a sensation once again this summer. A whole new group of viewers are getting invested in the story of Mike Ross, a talented lawyer with a photographic memory with one little secret: He never actually went to law school.

At the same time, these fans are also getting interested in the real-life actors from the show, such as Meghan Markle, now known as Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, wife to Prince Harry. Or Patrick J. Adams, who plays Mike Ross, and who has a somewhat famous spouse himself. Here’s everything you need to know about Troian Bellisario.

Who is Troian Bellisario?

Troian Bellisario is an American actress best known for her role as Spencer Hastings in Pretty Little Liars and has been married to Patrick J. Adams since 2016.

Bellisario was born in Los Angeles in 1985 to parents Deborah Pratt and Donald P. Bellisario. Both her parents were in show business, as they were producers. Her father created Magnum, P.I., Quantum Leap, and NCIS. Due to her parents’ business, she had her first acting credit when she was only 3 years old, in a 1988 thriller called Last Rites which was her father’s first and only theatrical directorial effort. She later appeared in a 1990 episode of Quantum Leap, and in 1998 appeared in the Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen flick Billboard Dad.

After attending Vassar College for a stint, Bellisario eventually graduated from the University of Southern California in 2009. During this time she was still acting, appearing in independent short films and some plays — including Equivocation, an alt-history drama about Shakespeare. It was on the set of this play that she met Adams, her future husband. She was also cast in Pretty Little Liars, her breakout role, in 2009. Big year for Bellisario!

How did Patrick J. Adams and Troian Bellisario meet?

Adams and Bellisario were both in the cast of that 2009 performance of Equivocation, and they started dating after meeting on the set.

They broke up but quickly got back together when they were back in each other’s spheres when Adams guest-starred in a 2010 episode of Pretty Little Liars. They dated for several years, appearing in some short films together (and Bellisario guest-starred in two episodes of Suits) before they were married in December of 2016 in Santa Barbara, California.

The pair have two daughters, Aurora and Elliot, who were born in 2018 and 2021, respectively.

In 2018, Adams and Bellisario attended the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

What other movies and shows has Troian Bellisario been in?

Bellisario’s biggest role is that of Spencer Hastings, one of the five protagonists of Freeform’s Pretty Little Liars, an adaptation of Sara Shepard’s book series which ran from 2010 to 2017. Spencer, one member of a group of friends who call themselves the Liars, is a competitive perfectionist. Bellisario played Spencer in all 160 episodes of Pretty Little Liars, and she played Spencer’s identical twin Alex Drake in six episodes of the show’s seventh season.

Some of Bellisario’s other notable roles include C.O.G., a 2013 adaptation of some David Sedaris short stories, a 2015 remake of the deeply disturbing French horror film Martyrs, the 2018 sci-fi film Clara, and 2019’s Where'd You Go Bernadette

Bellisario wrote, produced, and starred in the 2017 film Feed, where she plays a high school senior who is struggling after the death of her brother, played by Harry Potter’s Tom Felton. The film is inspired by Bellisario’s own experiences with an eating disorder.
