Try and Keep Up: Resident Alien S4 E1 Sneak Peek

This story contains spoilers for Resident Alien Season 4, Episode 1, "Prisoners."

When you're stuck on a secret lunar base on Earth's moon, dreaming of home, who do you loop into your epic escape plan? If you're Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle (Alan Tudyk), you turn to an Earth-obsessed Grey Alien named Bruce, so self-titled after Earth's greatest movie star, Bruce Dern (obviously).

How to Watch

Watch new episodes of Resident Alien Fridays at 11/10c on USA Network.

Resident Alien, which just premiered its fourth season on USA Network and SYFY, loves a good voice cameo. Season 1 saw genre stalwart Nathan Fillion voicing an octopus named 42 before the tentacled titan's demise and subsequent consumption by Dr. Vanderspeigle. Then there was sci-fi legend George Takei in the Season 2 finale, voicing the Grey leader who demanded Harry cease all efforts to prevent an upcoming invasion.

Now, the Season 4 premiere has added a new name to its cameo roster: star of screen and stage Jinkx Monsoon. Read on to learn more.

Who voices Bruce the Grey Alien in Resident Alien Season 4?

Bruce the Grey Alien is voiced by none other than Jinkx Monsoon, actress, singer, comedienne, and drag queen.

Hera Lilith Hoffer, commonly known by her stage name, Jinkx Monsoon, is a two-time RuPaul’s Drag Race winner, having snatched the crown first in Season 5 in 2013, and again in the 2022 season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.

Per her official website, "the self-proclaimed 'internationally tolerated' drag icon has taken over the entertainment industry as an award-winning stage actress, acclaimed vocalist, stand-up comic, and theatre sensation."

Jinkx Monsoon's Acting Career

While most will likely know her from her time on Drag Race, sci-fi fans might also recognize Monsoon from her role on Doctor Who, where she played the fabulously villainous, fourth wall-breaking Maestro in the episode "The Devil's Chord" opposite Ncuti Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor.

Jinkx Monsoon smiles in an all black outfit.

"There was a time, going to acting school, when I thought I had to give up drag to be an actor, and it turns out that wasn’t true," Monsoon told Variety of her career trajectory when discussing Doctor Who in 2024. "And then I thought I had given up my chances of being an actor because I had so firmly planted my flag in the world of drag, and that ended up not being true. And now here I am, marrying the two art forms that get me out of bed in the morning, and I get to do them both at the same time. It feels surreal."

Monsoon made her Broadway stage debut portraying the iconic Matron “Mama” Morton in Chicago, and is also a recording artist, having released three albums: The Inevitable Album (2014), The Ginger Snapped (2018), and The Virgo Odyssey (2022).

Resident Alien isn't her first voice acting gig, either; Monsoon has portrayed characters in a variety of series, including Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake (playing the beloved Lemongrab), Steven Universe, Mighty Magiswords, and Bravest Warriors.

To see what Monsoon's Bruce does next, watch new episodes of Resident Alien when they premiere on USA Network and SYFY on Friday nights.
