Alan Tudyk and Chris Sheridan talk Mantid Harry's "groove"
The Season 4 premiere saw Harry and his son Bridget return to Patience, mostly unscathed by their lunar imprisonment. But much to Harry's horror, he realized the Mantid (also now played by Alan Tudyk) had taken on his human form and was gallivanting about town. And Mantid Harry isn't exactly... great at the whole human thing.
"He’s not trying to fit in too well," Tudyk, laughing, told USA Insider ahead of the Season 4 premiere. "He can mimic Harry in moments where he feels like he’s getting exposed, but other than that, he smokes cigarettes, he’s very much a sexual being. He has ideas and designs on this, shall I say, virgin planet available to him. He’s got a groove. Mantid Harry has a groove."
Series creator Chris Sheridan added that Tudyk was key in designing this Mantid version of Harry.

"[The Mantid's] not great at the beginning of the season [when it comes to] sliding into Harry," Sheridan said. "He acts differently. Obviously, it’s very funny and I think there’s a cockiness about him. He knows he can just smoke and [thinks], 'Who gives a sh** with these people? They’ll think I’m him anyway.' Alan played it really well, and he [also] directed the first two episodes, which was a great entry into this season."
Season 4 of Resident Alien drops new episodes on Fridays on USA Network and SYFY. All episodes will be available to stream exclusively on Peacock one week after they air.
