Roman Reigns appeared on Logan Paul’s IMPAULSIVE podcast on Tuesday for an extensive in-studio interview that covered an exhaustive list of topics. We’re not exaggerating: Reigns touched on everything from his leukemia diagnosis to the Rock to his most viral moments and everything in between. The interview gave fans around the world an intimate look at the man behind the towering “Head of the Table” persona that has made him the hottest Superstar in all of WWE.

After an hour-long session where Roman Reigns answered any and all questions newly minted WWE Superstar Logan Paul and his co hosts threw at him, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion said his goodbyes and walked out of the studio.

Once Reigns left, however, it seems that Paul’s emotions got the best of him, and the adoration bestowed upon Reigns by his IMPAULSIVE co-hosts didn’t help matters at all.

“He was a great guest. More than a great guest, he’s the guy right now. In that ring, there’s nobody else on that level right now,” Paul’s co-hosts, seemingly in awe, said after Reigns exited the studio.

But Paul had heard enough, visibly becoming agitated in his seat listening to the praise being given to his most recent guest.

“I can feel the dog coming out of me,” Paul said, never mincing his words. “When I watch him on TV and in the ring … I just want to f***ing wrestle the guy.”

His co-hosts were shocked and immediately went into damage control mode, trying to steer Paul back on track: “You wanna have a dog fight with the guy? You’re a chihuahua going against a German shepherd. The dude is a god. Applause for your kickoff, you’ve been crushing it … but you got a little work to do before you’re on that level.”

But Paul wasn’t backing down. He instantly kicked up his intensity level as he lauded his own progress in wrestling: “Are you sure?” he shot back. “You see what I did at SummerSlam? When was the last time you’ve seen something like that done? Top rope, on top of the table, in my second match ever. It’s what I do.”

Of course, Logan Paul was referring to his frog splash onto the Miz during their bout at this year’s SummerSlam. And yes, it was a thing of beauty:

Never one to shy away from controversy, Paul unloaded another bullet from his chamber, and this time, he was aiming precisely at the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion himself.

“You’re not going to like this. You put me against Roman Reigns right now, I think I win. I’ll say it to the camera, I don’t care. I don’t care that he just left — me versus Roman Reigns. One on one. That’s my match,” he said, staring directly into the camera.

And with that, the podcast feed ended, leaving the challenge hanging in the air.

It goes without saying, it’s pretty uncommon for a podcast interview to turn into a war of words between host and guest, even if the words only came from one side.

There’s a lot to unpack here, of course.

It’s interesting to note that Logan Paul became extremely cocky and confident as soon as Roman Reigns left the room. It’s almost like he flipped the switch from podcast host to WWE Superstar in an instant. Was this challenge bubbling inside of Paul for the entire podcast? Did Reigns say something during the interview to set Paul off? Was the general adoration towards Reigns too much for Paul’s ego?

Most importantly: Is a challenge even a challenge if you don’t have the guts to lay it down directly to the man’s face?

Nevertheless, the challenge has officially been made: Logan Paul wants a match against Roman Reigns.

While there’s currently no word from Reigns' camp about whether or not Reigns is even aware that this turn of events happened after he left the studio, we’re sure this is just a hint of things to come. (And hey, we’re sure Paul Heyman, who is never one to shy away from controversy, will have plenty to say on this topic!)

Logan Paul can brazenly flaunt his meteoric rise to WWE stardom all he wants, and yes, he seemingly has all the physical tools required to step in the ring and perform at a high level. But as for now? Well, it looks like he may have bit off more than he can chew.
