Shelton, who turned 46 on June 18, spent the day doing what he does best: performing on stage to a packed crowd. But this performance was a little different. In a video shared on his social media, Shelton was surprised by Stefani on stage during the Country Summer Music Festival in Santa Rosa, California on Saturday. Right in the middle of his set, she came out on stage with a massive chocolate cake and led the crowd in singing “Happy Birthday” to her fellow "The Voice" coach.

After the song, the crowd cheered wildly as Stefani jumped up and down with her arms up in a victory pose to celebrate a successful surprise. Shelton, meanwhile, was all smiles as he pretends to blow out the cake’s candles, which were unlit (or had blown out already at the outdoor venue).

“Thank y’all for all the birthday wishes this past weekend and for y’all who came out to party at Country Summer!!! What a damn time we had.. also.. I love you @gwenstefani!!!!,” Shelton captioned the video

Despite being all smiles when his wife surprised him, Shelton previously phoned into his Nashville restaurant and bar, Ole Red, where he said he didn’t really want to do much celebrating.

“We don’t talk about my birthday anymore. At a certain point, birthdays are for kids, OK?” he said with a laugh. ”It is true, I am going to be … what am I going to be? I think I’m 46 this year … Or am I 47? 46!”

He concluded by noting that he was upset that he couldn’t be there in person to celebrate “Honkey-Tonk Night” at the restaurant and live music venue. Fortunately for him, Shelton will be spending a lot of time at Ole Red when he and Carson Daly join forces for “Barmaggedon,” a new competition show coming to USA Network that will see them coaching teams of bar athletes or “barthletes” as they compete in various games right inside Ole Red.

In the meantime, Shelton will be soaking up the birthday love he got from his crowd and Stefani. In addition, a few of his celebrity friends made sure to chime in on social media to mark the big day such as Darius Rucker, Ellen DeGeneres, the Bellamy Brothers, and his former “The Voice” team members Danielle Bradbery and Casi Joy
