Unpacking the major reveal on last week's episode of Resident Alien

Last week's episode of Resident Alien, "Soul Providers," provided the answer to one of the show's big mysteries. Why are the Greys abducting human children? They're harvesting their souls (humans are the only beings in the galaxy that have souls), but as last week's episode revealed, what they're using those souls for is not what you probably expected.

Baby souls make for an excellent anti-wrinkle cream that also can be enjoyed as a "savory dipping sauce."

As Resident Alien creator, showrunner, and executive producer Chris Sheridan explained to USA Insider, it was Tudyk, the series lead, who came up with the idea.

"It solved some problems because we spent a lot of time trying to figure out, ‘It’s gotta be this grand thing! Where are we going with it?’" Sheridan recalled. "And then Alan pitched, ‘Maybe it’s just a wrinkle cream.’ It was so funny and honestly so perfect for what it is."

"Simultaneously, you can do some of the goofiest, craziest, silliest, most bizarre, gross things," Tudyk added.
