'Austin Dillon's Life In The Fast Lane': Where Does The NASCAR Pro's Family Live?
"Austin Dillon's Life In The Fast Lane" will offer an inside look at the life of the NASCAR Pro in his hometown.
Austin Dillon, his wife, Whitney, and their best friends, Paul and Mariel Swan, will soon be the subjects of their very own USA Network reality series, "Austin Dillon's Life In The Fast Lane," premiering June 23. The show follows the group wherever the sport takes them. However, all roads lead back to Austin and Whitney’s home state of North Carolina.
The Richard Childress Racing pro was born in Welcome, North Carolina, in 1990. The town is located just outside of Lexington, where Dillon grew up and continues to live to this day.
In the past, he's represented the state beyond just the NASCAR raceway. Before he drove professionally, he got his start as a baseball player. In 2002, his talents took him all the way to the Little League World Series as part of the Clemmons, NC, team representing the Southwest Forsyth region.
However, being the son of NASCAR Busch Series driver Mike Dillon and the grandson of NASCAR Hall-of-Famer Richard Childress, owner of Richard Childress Racing, it wouldn’t be long before Dillon found himself on the race track.
In fact, it was because of his time racing in the state he met fellow North Carolina native Whitney. Speaking to News 12 in Chattanooga, Dillon explained that, although he met his now-wife in Bristol, Tennessee, while at a race, it was Chattanooga that solidified their romance. Dillon got his start in the city racing on its dirt tracks, which he says sharpened his skills and gave him an edge on the asphalt. Winning Whitney over was easy enough, but it took some time at Boyd Speedway to win over her family.
“I actually went back for an exhibition race at Boyd’s when Whitney and I were talking, and her dad came with her brother to watch me race, and we had a really good night there,” he told the outlet earlier this year. “That’s the night I set the fast time. I took her brother and him in a ride around the track, and that was kind of when I felt like I’d locked in the family. … When I talked on the mic that night, I said, ‘Yeah, I’m dating a girl from Soddy.’ Everybody cheered. It was cool.”
Now, the married couple and their best friends will show the world how people from North Carolina work hard and play harder when they offer a behind-the-scenes look at the ins and outs of their racing lives in “Austin Dillon’s Life In The Fast Lane.”
“Austin Dillon’s Life In The Fast Lane” premieres on June 23 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on USA Network.
