Dan Fogler's Early Life & Career
Dan Fogler was born on October 20, 1976, in Brooklyn to parents Richard and Shari Fogler. His father was a surgeon and his mother taught English. After graduating from a Brooklyn high school, he went on to attend the School of Theatre at Boston University.
Fogler married Jodie Capes in 2009. Capes is the co-founder of a career coaching company for actors and artists called Capes Coaching. The pair has two daughters, Edie and Franny.
Fogler made his screen debut in a 1999 film called Brooklyn Thrill Killers. In 2002, he appeared on TV on a Fox reality show called 30 Seconds to Fame, a talent show where contestants had half a minute to wow the judges. (Fogler did an impression of Al Pacchino.) In 2005, he won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Since then, he's been a regular on the big and small screens.
Dan Fogler's Movie Career
Fogler’s first major role was the ping pong comedy Balls of Fury, in which he played the main character, Randy Daytona. Since then, he’s starred in dozens of films, including providing voice roles in movies like Kung Fu Panda, Horton Hears a Who!, and Mars Needs Moms. Other roles include parts in Take Me Home Tonight and Europa Report.
His most notable role is probably that of Jacob Kowalski, the Muggle who goes along with Newt Scamander’s adventures in the Fantastic Beasts movies. Recently, he played Albert Grossman in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown.
Dan Fogler's TV Career
Fogler has been prolific on the small screen as well. He’s had voice roles in animated shows like American Dad!, Robot Chicken, and Big City Greens.
In terms of live-action roles, Fogler was one of the main characters of the sitcom Man Up!, which ran for 13 episodes before it was canceled in 2012. He had a role on The Goldbergs, in which he played Marvin Goldberg, he played Franklyn Froideveaux on Hannibal, had recurring roles on Secrets and Lies and The Walking Dead, and he played Francis Ford Coppola in The Offer, a miniseries about the making of The Godfather.
In addition to his upcoming role in The Rainmaker, Fogler has also been cast to appear in the third season of the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, where he’ll play Torrhen Manderly.
