Diplomatic Immunity Set to Bring Medical Drama Thrills to Rome's American Embassy
USA Network revealed they’ve greenlit Diplomatic Immunity, a medical drama following a doctor tasked with treating patients while navigating the geopolitical landscape after he’s assigned to Rome’s U.S. embassy.

We’ll soon find out on Diplomatic Immunity, the medical drama USA Network has given a straight-to-series order.
The greenlight is sending show creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord off to the writers’ room to map the first season of their one-hour drama.
Per the Aug. 25 announcement, USA Network revealed the series “centers on a young American doctor who is suddenly assigned to the medical office at the U.S. Embassy in Rome. He finds himself encountering challenging medical cases that require him to navigate diplomacy, government personalities and geopolitical situations—all while managing the romantic entanglements set against the thrill of a new life in a new country.”
Corman and Ord, who are also executive producers and will serve as co-showrunners, are coming off Daredevil: Born Again and previously oversaw the five-season run of Covert Affairs at the network.
"This is an amazing full-circle moment for us," Corman and Ord shared in the announcement. "To be reunited with all the talented folks at USA is an absolute dream and the brilliant team at FOX are the perfect studio partners for this Roman adventure."
The writing duo is already finding plenty of support for their fusion of the doctor drama and political thriller genres.

Meanwhile, Diplomatic Immunity will join USA’s growing slate of scripted programming, which includes John Grisham adaptation The Rainmaker and national park-set thriller Anna Pigeon.
