Two weeks ago, fans were treated to the finals of the Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament in the main event of RAW, but the match didn’t come without controversy. While Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky of Bayley’s new “Damage CTRL” faction dominated most of the matchup, it only takes three seconds to pick up a victory in WWE and that’s exactly what Aliyah did … sorta.

How to Watch

In the heat of the action, Aliyah thought Kai was the legal competitor. However, the legal competitor was actually Sky, who was still recovering from Raquel Rodriguez’s powerful offense on the outside. Aliyah snuck up from behind Kai and rolled her up for a surprising upset victory. While an emotional Aliyah and Rodriguez celebrated with their newly won titles, a desperate Kai begged the referee to examine the footage.

“That wasn’t legit though!” Kai screamed at the referee. But it was too late, as the new champions were already celebrating in the ring.

After the match, Damage CTRL and fans alike took to social media to debate whether or not a rematch was in order. Some members of the WWE Universe felt that the referee’s decision should be final while others believed CTRL was owed a rematch since the legal competitor was technically not pinned.

Well, Bayley must’ve presented a convincing case to WWE officials because last night on RAW, CTRL got their rematch for the Women’s Tag Team Championships.

The match was fast-paced and it seemed as if Aliyah improved by leaps and bounds in just the past two weeks. This was Aliyah’s best outing in the ring yet and things seem to finally be clicking for her in WWE. Despite the improvement, it was not enough to keep Kai and Sky from getting their hands on the gold. Kai, this time the legal competitor, hit Aliyah with her patented Backbreaker finisher for the win. The new champs celebrated in the ring with Bayley, who would later in the night make a case for a RAW Women’s Championship opportunity after she defeated Bianca Belair at Clash at the Castle.

Backstage, an ecstatic Damage CTRL celebrated their title victory and shared with the WWE Universe that it’s time to party, as the trio left to go partake in their festivities.

Imagine how much bigger the party will get if Bayley wins the RAW Women’s Championship from Bianca Belair at Extreme Rules? All we know is, we wish we were invited and could’ve partied the night away with Damage CTRL!
