Does Dakota Kai Deserve A Rematch After Aliyah’s Controversial Pin?

Should Kai and Sky get a rematch because the legal competitor wasn’t pinned or will Control have to earn their way back to a rematch?

Last night on Monday Night RAW, fans were treated to the finals of the Women’s Tag Team Championship as the main event. Aliyah and Raquel Rodriguez faced off against Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai, two of WWE’s hottest Superstars and members of Bayley’s new “Control” faction. The latter were considered heavy favorites coming into the matchup as Kai and Sky’s momentum in WWE was second to none after breezing through their prior matchups to earn a spot in the finals.

The match was competitive, with Rodriguez taking control early on for her team. She did most of the work in this match, proving that she is indeed here to stay and can hang in the ring with the best in the business. When it seemed like Control was in some trouble, Bayley attempted to interfere in the match. Just then, Asuka, Bianca Belair, and Alexa Bliss emerged from backstage to fight off Bayley and keep the finals fair. Moments later, Aliyah snuck up from behind Kai and rolled her up for a shocking victory.

Emotional, Aliyah and Rodriguez celebrated with Belair and company, as this was Aliyah’s first taste of WWE gold and Rodriguez’s first time on the main roster. The match, however, was surrounded by controversy upon finishing.

Dakota Kai was not the legal competitor in the ring at the time, it was Iyo Sky. This means Aliyah and Rodriguez’s win was technically not official and Kai let the referee hear it immediately after being pinned.

“That wasn’t legit though!” she screamed. It didn’t matter. Aliyah and Rodriguez were already celebrating in the ring with their newly won titles. Since then, Control has been very public about feeling like they’re owed a rematch. They feel if the legal competitor was not pinned, the match simply never ended. They do have a point, but many members of the WWE Universe think the decision should remain final.

Should Kai and Sky get a rematch because the legal competitor wasn’t pinned, or is the referee’s call final (meaning Control will have to earn their way back to a rematch)?

Much to the surprise of fans, Control took the loss yesterday. Only time will tell if Kai and Sky are granted their rematch, but for now, Rodriguez and Aliyah are the new Women’s Tag Team Champions.
