The Weeknd - real name Abel Tesfaye - is an alternative R&B artist. He released three mixtapes in 2011 that led to critical acclaim and appearances on Drake's 2011 album Take Care. After signing with Universal Records, The Weeknd's three mixtapes plus three new songs were packaged together on the album Trilogy, released in November 2012. It debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and was later certified platinum. The Weeknd's debut studio album, 2013's Kiss Land, fared even better, reaching No. 2. He scored his first No. 1 album with 2015's Beauty Behind the Madness, which also spawned the No. 1 singles "The Hills" and "Can't Feel My Face." Additionally, The Weeknd was nominated for an Oscar in 2016 for his contribution to the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack, "Earned It." His fourth studio album, After Hours, is set to release in March 2020.
