Jennifer Hudson is an Oscar- and Grammy Award-winning singer and actress. She first came to fame as a contestant on the third season of American Idol in 2004, where she finished seventh. Two years later, Hudson portrayed Effie White in the big-screen adaptation of Dreamgirls and took home the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance. Hudson's self-titled debut album was released in 2008 and earned the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album. She followed it up with 2011's I Remember Me and 2014's JHUD. Later this year, Hudson will make her Broadway debut in a new production of The Color Purple.
