Idris Elba is an Emmy-nominated and SAG Award-winning British actor who scored his big break playing Russell "Stringer" Bell on HBO's The Wire from 2002 to 2004. He returned to television in 2010, playing the title role on the BBC series Luther, winning him a Golden Globe. Elba's best-known films include American Gangster, the Thor franchise, Prometheus, Pacific Rim, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Beasts of No Nation, Zootopia, The Jungle Book, Finding Dory, Star Trek Beyond, The Harder They Fall and Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Most recently, Elba stars in Three Thousand Years of Longing and Beast, which both release in August 2022.
