Ellen DeGeneres is an Emmy Award-winning comedian, actress, producer, writer and talk show host. A stand-up comedian at the start of her career, DeGeneres famously performed on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1986 and became the first female comedian Carson invited over for a chat. From 1994 to 1998, DeGeneres starred in the sitcom Ellen. During that time, she came out as a lesbian, and her character followed suit. In 2003, DeGeneres voiced the character Dory in Disney and Pixar's Finding Nemo and launched her self-titled daytime talk show, which has won 11 Daytime Emmy Awards. She has also hosted the Academy Awards, Grammys and Primetime Emmys, authored three books and founded her own record company, ElevenEleven. Over her impressive career, DeGeneres has earned 13 Emmys and 14 People's Choice Awards. Most recently, she executive produced the NBC sitcom One Big Happy, as well as "Repeat After Me," Fox's upcoming comedy "Couple Time" and NBC's "First Dates."
