Dan Aykroyd is a comedian and actor best known for his starring roles in The Blues Brothers and Ghostbusters. He first came to prominence as a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1976 to 1979. With fellow SNL alum John Belushi, Aykroyd brought The Blues Brothers to the big screen in 1980. Four years later, he co-created, co-wrote and starred in Ghostbusters alongside Bill Murray and Harold Ramis. Ghostbusters II was released in 1989, the same year Aykroyd received a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Driving Miss Daisy. Since then, the actor has continued to appear in comedic films, such as 1995's Tommy Boy, but in supporting roles. In 2014, Aykroyd commemorated the 30th anniversary of Ghostbusters, which was re-released in theaters for a limited time and as a new collector's edition Blu-ray. Most recently, Aykroyd stars in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which is set to be released in November 2021.
