Chef Nobu Matsuhisa is the founder of the Nobu and Matsuhisa restaurants. Born and raised in Japan, Matsuhisa is a classically trained sushi chef who spent several years in Peru developing his signature style. He opened his self-titled restaurant, Matsuhisa, in Beverly Hills in 1987. Seven years later, Matsuhisa partnered with Robert DeNiro and restaurateur Drew Nieporent to open Nobu in New York City's Tribeca neighborhood. Matsuhisa now has restaurants all over the world, including London, Melbourne and Tokyo. He has been nominated nine times for the Outstanding Chef award by the James Beard Foundation.
