Samantha Hoffman's time on Temptation Island may be over, but that doesn't mean that her journey is complete. We recently sat down with the bachelorette to ask her about her time on the show, the infamous threesome, and her connection with David Benavidez.
USANetwork.com: What made you decide to come on Temptation Island?
Samantha Hoffman: Truthfully, I hadn't heard about it. They kind of found me. But what made me decide to do Temptation Island is that I wanted to get out of my comfort zone. I was stuck in this almost decade-long situation with one person and I was like, "You know, I need to put myself out there. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Let me just do it. Only good can come from it."
USA: When they first brought you guys out to meet the four couples, what were your thoughts?
Samantha: I'm not going to lie, when we first saw the couples, I didn't have my glasses on, and I'm nearsighted. I really didn't even know what they looked like until the mixer. I was in so much pain that night. My feet were hurting. I was just tired. You kind of forget why you're there and what you're doing. At that point, I felt disconnected that I was doing a television show and I should probably be paying attention more than I did. But at that time, I was just worried about getting some sleep and resting my feet.
USA: Was that first mixer awkward since you're going in there with all strangers?
Samantha: The first mixer was definitely awkward for me because I'm an awkward person. I haven't been in the dating scene in a long time, so I don't really know how to operate as a fully single person. I think I did well. I was telling the guys that, "Hey, I'm down to bro out. I'm your girl. I know you guys are going through a lot." That's something that I wanted to tell them right off the bat. Like, 'Hey, if you need someone to talk to, I'm your girl.' I honestly thought coming into this that I was just going to be in the background eating and drinking the whole time. Obviously that didn't happen. I mean it did happen but also plus more.

USA: Did you feel like you had a connection with David?
Samantha: Yeah, completely. He was the only guy that I pursued romantically. They can't show everything, but we had conversations about our ambitions, our family. He is someone that I did connect with more on the romantic level. I had my bond with the other three guys as well, but they weren't at that level. It was more friendship and brotherly-sisterly type of bond.
USA: At one point in the show you said, "I'm going to go for it." What brought you to that point?
Samantha: I actually did feel something for this guy (David) and it's something that I hadn't felt in a while. I felt like I would be cheating myself if I didn't just go for it and go all-in. I hadn't been single in a long time so I owed it to myself to put myself out there and give it a try, even if it didn't work out.
USA: What did you think when David said, "We're going to be friends. I'm going to pursue Toneata."
Samantha: I felt it coming because after we had our thing with the shower and me spending the night, I could definitely feel like he was worried about how he would be portrayed on television. Me and Toneata started talking and I said, "Hey this is what's going to happen right now. He's on a road to redemption and you're going to be that path for him to redeem himself on television. Because he knows at this point he can't get that with Kate." I definitely saw it coming. I was kind of waiting for it. At the same time I was also noticing a lot of red flags that I was ignoring in the beginning.

USA: You knew the signs.
Samantha: I knew it was coming. He didn't care about a lot of people's feelings. He didn't care about my feelings. He didn't care about Toneata's feelings. He didn't care about Kate's feelings. It was always about him if I'm being completely a hundred percent honest.
One thing I kind of beat myself over is not acting on knowing those red flags in the beginning. I don't have any regrets. I acted in the moment how I felt. There's no regrets with that. But I definitely saw it coming and I was waiting for the conversation. I could read him because he's a lot my ex, and I dealt with that for eight years.
USA: Who's your best friend from the show?
Samantha: That's hard. I have a special bond with every single person. The one I do talk to the most is Tracy (Ly), that's my girl. But I do have a special bond with everyone. I talk to Rachel all the time. Medinah, I have an individual bond with each of them. Even Melisza -- she's not around too much and you don't see her too much on the show. Of course, Payton, we had the whole bedroom situation together. I can pinpoint my bond with each and every one of them.
USA: What was the most fun you had on the show?
Samantha: Any time that I spent with the single girls. We developed such a bond. I know you don't get to see that on TV because it does focus on the couples. But these girls are amazing. I'm just mind-blown by some of the things these girls used to say about themselves when we first got into the house. Watching them grow throughout the show and seeing them become the women they are today. They just inspire me with how they carry themselves now and how they know their worth. I talk to them every day and that's probably the biggest thing that I've taken from the show.
