Once again, Temptation Island has come down the final bonfire. The first half of the season’s climactic two-part finale airs Thursday 10/9c on USA Network. Each of the four ladies of the girl villa must weigh their relationships, new connections, and personal growth as they prepare to see their significant other for the first time in a month. While Ashley G. has never been more conflicted as far as her relationship with Rick goes, Kate is worried that the mere sight of David will cause her to forget everything she’s learned about herself on Temptation Island. As Esonica continues to build her emotional and physical connection with Kareem, Gavin is more certain than ever that he wants to stay with her. Ditto Casey and Ashley H.
Ashley H., Esonica, and Kate each offered insights into how they prepared to be reunited with their significant others at the final bonfire, as well as their overall experience on Temptation Island.
Getting ready for the final bonfire
Despite everything that happened to her on Temptation Island—her improved confidence, romance with Ben, and disgust with some things that Casey said—Ashley H. remained uncertain going into her final bonfire. “I didn't know what to expect from the final bonfire,” she said. “I really had no idea what the outcome was going to be.
Esonica seemed equally uncertain, and willing to go into the final bonfire with an open mind and let the let the chips fall where they may. “I did not have any expectations,” she said. “I knew that there could be many possibilities, and I was open to all of them. I did not have my mind completely made up when I was walking into the bonfire, but I did have an idea of what I wanted to say. I knew there was a lot that I needed to get off of my chest.
Kate, on the other hand, was already looking beyond the final bonfire. “Honestly, at that point, I was emotionally numb. I was ready to be off the island!” she said. “I was mostly excited that I could get home and begin to heal in my natural environment and finally call my best friend, who I talk to daily. That was the longest we had ever gone without speaking!”
The final bonfire; full of surprises
Ashley H. and Esonica both say they were surprised with the outcomes of their final bonfires. Ashley was happy to see Casey in person again (“I mean, I love him,” she said) and added that she believed the final bonfire “is definitely going to shock some people.” Esonica agreed, saying that “fans can expect to feel all the emotions that we are feeling and take a ride on a very emotional rollercoaster.” Kate said her bonfire more or less went as expected. “What I didn’t expect were the tears from David, as I had never seen him so emotional about anything ever.”
Looking back on Temptation Island
Everyone agreed that Temptation Island was a massive learning experience, and that the hardest parts of the journey helped them grow along the way. Kate said “she’s still learning from Temptation Island.” Added Ashley H: “I learned that being in a relationship is so hard and you have to put someone else before you sometimes, but also, you need to have respect and love for yourself before getting into a relationship.”
While Kate and Ashley both recommend prospective couples think “long and hard” before determining that the journey is right for them, Esonica called Temptation Island “the ultimate test.” “I believe it’s better to know earlier than later if you and your partner are a good match,” she explained.
While Ashley H. cited “negative and positive” comments from fans, Kate and Esonica said viewers have been sending them nice comments. “Which I appreciate, especially when social media can be a place where people are torn apart,” Kate said. The support has meant a lot to Esonica, too. “I am happy to know that my fans are supportive of my journey no matter the outcome,” she said.
