Can you say game-changer? The last episode of Suits was the kind of shock to the system that will change the world of Specter Litt FOR-EV-ER! Can’t remember what the fuss was about? Don’t sweat it: we’ve got a rundown of the important details to get you up to speed in time for the big Season 8 premiere this Wednesday!
The Suit That Almost Sunk the Firm
Stanley Gordon came gunning with a mammoth of a class action suit on behalf of Specter Litt’s former partners, and for a time, it looked like he would succeed in putting the firm in the ground. But the move was soon revealed to be a trojan horse disguising his true intention: a hostile takeover by Rand Kaldor Zane…minus Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce), whose longtime partners had decided to stab him in the back after watching him grow a little too chummy with Jessica (Gina Torres) and Harvey (Gabriel Macht) over the years. Once the devious plan was laid bare, Harvey and the team scrambled to mount a defense while Zane circled his own wagons, but despite their best efforts it seemed that Gordon, Rand and Kaldor would win the day. That is, until Mike (Patrick J. Adams) came up with a plan at the last minute to solve everyone’s problems…
Specter Litt ... Zane?
Or will it be Zane Specter Litt? Well, however the new letterhead looks, Mike’s plan to have Robert Zane defect with twenty of his most trusted employees gave Harvey and Louis the stopping power to halt Gordon, Rand and Kaldor’s plan dead in its tracks. The question is, now that the war is over, what will the peace look like? Because while Harvey may be used to calling the shots, we all know Robert Zane isn’t a man comfortable playing number two…
Mike and Rachel Are Gone
This one was so bittersweet. Mike and Rachel (Meghan Markle) were offered the opportunity to run a privately funded firm that was being built to take on Fortune 500 companies on behalf of the little guy, and they realized they couldn’t say no -- even if it meant pushing up their wedding (and what a beautiful wedding it was!) and uprooting their lives for Seattle. Of course, Harvey was happy to see Mike and Rachel live out their dreams, but one thing we all know about our dear Mr. Specter is that he doesn’t always cope well with change -- especially when it comes to those close to his heart. And losing the Robin to his Batman? Yeah, we’re guessing that could have an effect on Harvey’s state of mind in the days to come.
Donna and Harvey Got Back to Fine, but Harvey's Love Life Is on the Rocks
Speaking of things that affected Harvey’s mood, The Kiss (as we’re sure all the Darvey shippers are calling it) sure wreaked havoc on Harvey’s personal and professional lives, torpedoing his confidence in Donna (Sarah Rafferty) and ramping up Paula’s own fears about the strength of their relationship. But while Donna and Harvey were eventually able to get past their trust issues, Paula couldn’t, and she asked Harvey to make a choice between her and Donna. Unfortunately for her, Harvey came to the conclusion that he couldn’t live without Donna in his life, so he let Paula go.
Louis Won Sheila Back!
Unlucky in love for so long, Louis finally won the love of his life, and we couldn’t be happier for him! Louis and Sheila’s renewed courtship certainly had its ups and downs, to say the least, and Louis’s decision-making may not have always been sound (see: his decision to embark on a torrid affair with Sheila in an effort to win her back; see also: his subsequent decision to challenge Sheila’s now-ex fiancé to a lawyers duel after Sheila made it clear that she would never go back to Louis) but he always stayed true to his heart, and his heart eventually won out. And as if to add a fairytale capper, Sheila told him they would let fate decide whether or not they would have children. Seems like everything’s coming up Litt!
