Ryan Phillippe is back as Bob Lee Swagger for a second season of Shooter! You’d think the bad guys would learn not to mess with him, since he’s always smart enough and tough enough to save the day.We love watching him make bad guys pay though, so we’re glad Swagger has a new crop of villains to deal with. Here are 10 reasons they should not mess with Bob Lee Swagger.
10. He can make any shot.
The show is called Shooter for a reason! No matter where you are, Swagger can hit the target. That goes for shooting the cell phone out of agent Isaac Johnson (Omar Epps)’s hand or taking out the Russian conspirator Krukov (Sean Cameron Michael) from miles away to save his wife and daughter.
9. He can fake his death.
Even if you think you killed him, that’s only what Swagger wanted you to think. Remember when Swagger bought himself some time in the first season by faking his death? He used a metal hip with his serial number from a hospital, so when he rigged his shed to explode, it looked like the only remaining piece of his body. Of course, once he was spotted again in public, the authorities resumed the chase, but Swagger already had a head start.
8. He can throw knives too.
Swagger may be a shooter but guns aren’t the only weapons he’s got. Good to know if he ever has to drop his firearm, he’s just as accurate throwing a blade. Don’t tell the bad guys that though.
7. Prison can’t hold him.
It only took one episode for Swagger to bust out of prison, hitching a ride out on a prison truck. While he was inside, Swagger took out the biggest inmate on the cell block, along with a corrupt prison guard on the take.
6. He can fight with both hands tied behind his back.
Two on one is already more than most fighters can handle. Swagger took out two guards with his hands zip-tied behind him, and then used their weapon to cut himself free. Now imagine what he could do to you with the use of all of his limbs!
5. He can take you out without even hurting you.
While on the run, Swagger’s face was all over the news. That meant innocent civilians would try to turn him in, along with the regular cops and agents on the hunt for him. Lucky for them, Swagger is so good that he doesn’t even have to hurt them to defend himself. Take, for instance, the shopkeeper Swagger just grabbed the shotgun from to made a break for it, or the traffic cop whose bike Swagger ran over so he couldn’t give chase.
4. He’ll know if you mess with his stuff.
It turns out the entire conspiracy came undone because of a thumbtack. Swagger knew something was up as soon as he saw a red thumbtack on the floor of his shed. Swagger never makes a mess, and in the final episode of season one, he revealed that the thumbtack led him to double check the gun. Swagger already knew the firing pin was shaved before the assassination took place.
3. He’ll double-cross the double-crossers.
Pro Tip: If the man you framed for assassination offers to kill the man you sent to set him up, he’s probably playing you. Bob Lee Swagger offered to kill Lon Scott (Desmond Harrington) and Jack Payne (Eddie McClintock), then played back a tape of the deal to Lon.
2. His wife is his greatest asset.
Julie Swagger (Shantel VanSanten) has Bob Lee’s back. She knows all the protocol to arrange a meet-and-drop with code that won’t tip off anyone listening on the phone line. She even threatened her sister’s husband at knife point not to turn Bob Lee in. She got to take the killshot on Payne, so don’t think the female Swagger is any softer than Bob Lee.
1. He’s got a beautiful mind.
If you’re wondering just how Swagger can make every complicated shot, it’s math. He’s a human calculator. We even got to see his calculations on screen as he prepared his most complicated shots in the woods.
