It's a soundtrack fit for a queen! Today, the official Queen of the South soundtrack is available from Lakeshore Records to download on Amazon and iTunes -- or stream it with your Apple Music subscription!
Queen fans who saw last night's new episode, "La Fuerza," were treated to an exclusive new cover of Tears for Fears' "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" -- a synth pop version from music icon Giorgio Moroder featuring the ethereal Spanish-language vocals of Luz Elena Mendoza.
With 28 total tracks from the series' composers Moroder and Raney Shockne, the official soundtrack also has an extended "Queen of the South" title theme, as well as a cover of Blondie's "One Way or Another," featuring singer Chloe Chaidez. Moroder -- a disco and electronic music trailblazer -- is best known for timeless soundtrack numbers like “Take My Breath Away” (Top Gun), Irene Cara’s “Flashdance,” Blondie’s “Call Me” (American Gigolo), as well as compositions on films such as The NeverEnding Story, Superman III, Rambo III and Beverly Hills Cop II. Shockne is a prolific composer and has written scores for over 30 films and TV shows, including Anger Management and Kevin Can Wait.
Now in its third season, Queen of the South -- based on the bestselling novel by Arturo Pérez-Reverte -- tells the powerful story of Teresa Mendoza and her unpredictable rise from an impoverished money-changer on the streets of Mexico to one of the world's most successful and notorious drug traffickers. Season 3 is currently airing Thursday nights on USA Network. The first two seasons are streaming on Netflix.
