[Warning: Contains spoilers from episode 211]
For Teresa Mendoza, this is the two-minute phone call that changed everything. We learned in the previous episode that Teresa has no intention of remaining in Dallas as Camila Vargas’ right-hand woman, for as we have seen, everyone in Camila’s circle is disposable.
After a jaw-dropping revelation, we discovered that Camila intended to frame Teresa as the owner of the infamous trawler company. Thus, our Queen endeavors to escape with her newfound partner in crime, Kelly Anne Van Awken, and along the way, confronts Camila in an utterly devastating break-up over the phone.
Here’s what went down:
1. Teresa identifies the problem.
There is, without question, a giant, pink elephant in the room, and Teresa doesn’t shy away from recognizing the obvious. When Camila phones Teresa to inquire her whereabouts, we find that our Queen has put aside the niceties in favor of a more formal approach. “What do you want?” The purpose of this call is to rein Teresa in, and as such, Camila will do or say anything to prove her innocence.
2. Camila retorts by feigning ignorance.
Who? Me? Yes, Camila, it was you. She, of course, immediately places the blame on Cole Van Awken, who, according to her, was acting by his own accord when he listed Teresa’s name in the legal documents. To add insult to serious injury, she even goes as far to claim that Teresa is like a daughter to her, and therefore, would never betray her trust. In one final plea, Camila begs Teresa to return to Dallas.
3. Teresa tries to part amicably, though with a warning.
When our Queen makes up her mind, absolutely nothing can sway her -- not even Camila Vargas. Teresa implores her former boss (life partner? you make the call) to let her go on peaceful terms, but warns her that she could get hurt in the process if she refuses.
4. Camila, in true form, gets the last word.
One doesn’t simply threaten the life of a drug lord without expecting any ramifications. It may not be a war Teresa wants, but it’s a war Teresa is going to get. After Camila is lambasted by Teresa for lying to her about being a good business partner, Camila attempts to instill the fear of God in her new arch-nemesis, and ends the conversation with the last word. “I’m glad you have such a good memory, because you remember my word. Remember this: wherever you go, whatever you do, I will hunt you down.”
After all, what's a relationship without trust? Watch the break-up call for yourself:
