Actor Bio

Sandra Mae Frank stars as Dr. Elizabeth Wilder in NBC's "New Amsterdam." A brilliant deaf surgeon who is wise beyond her years, she joined the staff at the hospital during a tumultuous time and has become an integral part of the team, providing leadership and boosting morale. Frank is a trained stage and film actor who first made her mark in the Deaf West production of "Spring Awakening" on Broadway. Since then, she has worked on various projects from music videos to theater productions, film and television. Frank serves as the production manager of Deaf Austin Theatre, a non-profit theater company in Texas. She also recently co-directed "The Music Man" at Olney Theatre Center in Maryland.  Her television work includes appearances on NBC's acclaimed "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist," Netflix's "Daybreak" and Freeform's "Switched at Birth." Film roles include "Season of Love," "Entangled," "Soul to Keep" and "The Sound of Fear." Frank's extensive regional theater work includes starring roles in "Next to Normal" and "Fun Home" at Ground Floor Theatre and "Fiddler on the Roof" at Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma. Other productions include "The Solid Life of Sugar Water," "Our Town," "Richard III" at NextStop Theatre Company and "At Home at the Zoo" at Deaf West Theatre, where she also served as assistant director.Her recent music video appearances include Kelly Clarkson's "I Dare You" and American Authors' "Pride."
