Mr. Robot’s Tod Campbell Wins ASC Award
At the 31st annual ASC (American Society of Cinematography) Awards on Sunday night, Mr. Robot’s Tod Campbell won for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography in Regular Series for Commercial Television.
Campbell took home the prize for his work on the episode “eps2.0_unm4sk-pt1.tc”, Mr. Robot’s second season premiere.
“The idea was to … make people feel like the ground beneath them is undulating constantly,” Campbell said of his approach to the show’s cinematography in a 2015 interview with Vulture. “That’s the way Elliot himself feels. It never gives you a sense of really being righted.”
The win marked both Mr. Robot’s and Campbell’s first ASC Award. In 2010, Campbell won an Emerging Cinematographer Award for film short The Big Bends.
