Week Three: Kevin Nealon
Dana Carvey welcomes another former SNL-er, Kevin Nealon, and they slip into Hans and Franz to mock their benevolent host Freddie Prinze Jr. (“I have washboard abs, you have a Sears front-loader,” Dana/Hans says).
Lauren O’Brien puts her impressions in an L.A. traffic jam and introduces Sofia Vergara, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow. Dana commends her Angelina Jolie, which starts and ends with puffed-up lips and serious face. Brock Baker does the late great Phil Hartman, Jack Black, and a round of cartoon dads. Then Justin Rupple calls his Christian Slater “a poor man’s Jack Nicholson” and wins over the crowd with Katt Williams.
Round #1: Confession Impression
The contestants are asked to confess to sins they read from cards as they join Father Nealon in the confessional. Brock as Winnie the Pooh cops to the sin of honey eating. Lauren’s Jennifer Garner ends up on the other side of Dana’s famous “special” Church Lady.
Round #2: Talk Show Roulette
Dana takes the desk as Johnny Carson and Brock brings his Louis C.K. Next Justin joins as Vince Vaughn and Lauren as Drew Barrymore, who discusses the possibility of an “E.T.” sequel with Adam Sadler.
Round #3: Inside the A-list Studio
Brock fields an audience question in the voice of Liam Neeson about who he would like to play in a biopic (Answer: Mike Tyson). Lauren squints her way through an Owen Wilson question, then Brock discusses Gilbert Gottfried’s next project, “The Yelling Man.”
Congratulations to Justin Rupple, whose impression of Jeff Bridges and T.J. Miller mocking his own impressions of them sealed the deal.
