Eyewitness episode 104, “Crème Brulée,” had it all: mystery, romance, drama, and dessert. (Catch the full recap here.) But one thing and one thing only had Twitter abuzz last night…. You guess it: Philip’s coming out! The greatest highlight from this episode is Philip’s big reveal to his foster parents, Helen and Gabe. USA and the It Gets Better Project even marked the occasion with two post-show Facebook Live Q&As! Below, we round up some of the best cast and fan interactions through Philip’s big night.
Fans celebrated #PhilipsComingOutParty.
Before last night’s episode even aired, fans around the country were getting ready for Philip’s big scene, baking cakes, drawing up invitations, and more.
The moment finally came, and fans couldn’t hold back their tears.
In easily one of the most touching scenes of the series thus far, Philip finally let’s Helen and Gabe further into his personal life and let’s one of his secrets go: He’s gay. See what actor Tyler Young had to say about preparing for the big scene here.
Philip subtweets Lukas.
When pressed by Helen and Gabe, Philip told them that finding love in Tivoli is difficult for more reasons than one.
Philip’s coming out may not have been for all the right reasons.
Young himself acknowledged last night that his sexuality is just one of Philip’s many secrets, and he told Helen in part to get her off his back.
Philip stands up for himself.
When Philip tells Lukas that he came out to his foster parents, Lukas is immediately concerned that they’ll think he’s gay. But don’t worry: Philip just told them that Lukas is a homophobic bully. We love #Philkas, but Lukas deserved that jab.
Still, Twitter is quick to defend Lukas and keep #Phikas together.
And that sex tape!!
In one Lukas’s crazier plans to continue being with Philip in secret, he gets Philip to film he and Rose having sex near the lake and to spread the tape around school. It goes as according to plan, and it’s a known fact that he and Rose are together again, but still, it left many Eyewitness fans feeling bad for Philip.
Things are still looking up for #Philkas.
After the tape gets out, Lukas lets his guard down and becomes more comfortable with Philip in public again, even offering to teach him how to ride his bike.
And the cast was there watching with us!
Through it all, the Eyewitness cast came out strong with the It Gets Better Project to live tweet and watch the series with fans in real time.
So until next week.... We’ll stay shook.
