Even while Betty’s on trial, she somehow still manages to bring it fashion-wise in Episode 8 of Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story. Whether she’s in court or meeting with her lawyer at the prison where she’s being held, again and again Betty’s outfits seem to support her optimistic, though ultimately misguided, outlook on the outcome.
All Track, No Field
Having gotten dolled up for press interviews earlier in the day, Betty confers with her lawyer in a white tracksuit with a glam red, gold and black baroque pattern on the body of the jacket.
Evelyn approaches the stand in a matching maroon tweed skirt and jacket, which is accented with big gold buttons and black velvet at the collar and cuffs.
A Thin Line
For her testimony at Betty’s trial, Janet wears a demure white collarless jacket with narrow black horizontal stripes. The black fabric flower pinned to her chest, however, is less of a fashionable cherry on top than a symbol of another nail in Betty’s coffin.
Stripe This Way
When it’s Karen’s turn in the hotseat, she chooses a dolman sleeve navy and off white striped dress. Her round gold statement earrings, which are adorned with navy blue anchors in a white circle, give her look for court a nod to nautical.
Black and Blue
For another moment in court, Betty’s casual blue sweater with a diamond shape pattern and gathering at the shoulders seems out of style sync with her satiny black blouse with a pussycat bow that she wears underneath it.
Opposite of a Garden Party
When she takes the stand, Betty selects an off-white blazer with pastel pink flowers, perhaps in the hopes of conveying her softer side.
Betty goes monochromatic in a royal blue suit with a high-waist skirt and matching short, bolero-esque jacket, and a silky pussycat bow blouse in almost the same hue.
Lady in Red
When it’s time for Betty to face the music, she does so in a blood red collarless, bracelet sleeve jacket with leopard print trim and ruffled cuffs.
