The season three premiere of Colony had a lot of ground to cover when it came to the Bowmans – so it’s nice to see familiar faces in Helena and Broussard. (Is “nice” the right word for Helena?) Both Broussard and the Bowmans take some pretty risky trips in "Puzzle Man," but where are they headed – and who will be there to greet them?
[Warning: Contains episode spoilers]
Revelation: The Factory Has Been Destroyed
Helena is woken up in the middle of the night to some rather disturbing news – the Factory has been destroyed by “numerous bogies.” There were no survivors. Helena and her coworkers talk about repairing defense technologies … and how long until aggressors strike Earth.
Revelation: Broussard’s Alive … And (Mostly) Alone
Broussard’s wandering the streets of Los Angeles, combing through shredded documents and empty desks for ... what exactly? He’s all alone except for the occasional drone and a radio dispatcher, until he comes across some unexpected company.
Revelation/Burning Question: The Signal is a Woman. But Whose Side Is She On?
When the Bowmans – Bram and Katie in front, with Will guarding the Gauntlet and the others not far behind – first meet their radio contact from "Marquis", there’s a significant amount of tension. They’ve only contacted this woman via radio, and for all the Bowmans know, she might very well be in bed with occupying forces. Instead, she leads the Bowmans to a train, and gives specific boarding instructions to avoid unwanted attention. But where is the train headed, and more importantly, who’s there waiting for them?
Revelation: Broussard’s Network is Gone
Broussard guides a mother and son toward safety in the form of a “pickup crew” that transports stragglers. Then the distressed dispatcher arrives, and she breaks the news: “Everyone’s gone.” Though most of Broussard’s network has been wiped out by the Occupation, he makes a new ally in the dispatcher, Amy.
Revelation: Seattle Was Also Renditioned
When Broussard meets Amy, she explains that Seattle went through a similar rendition before Los Angeles. "The Resistance outside the walls ... they've been sending messages about Seattle," Amy says. "The whole colony was renditioned about a year ago ... New population, new government."
Burning Question: What Will Broussard Do Outside the Bloc?
It's an ominous ending to "Puzzle Man": Broussard and the dispatcher begin to exit the Los Angeles Bloc, looking for clues as they move deeper into the unknown. What waits for them outside the Wall?
