A confrontation between Will and Snyder leads to some answers, and more questions, in Colony 309, “The Big Empty”.
[Warning: Contains episode spoilers for Colony 309]
Revelation: Kynes Knew Snyder Wasn’t on His Side
In 308, “Lazarus”, Kynes showed Snyder around Seattle, even sharing secrets with the former LA Proxy about his relationship with the Hosts. But in the episode-opening flashback for 309, “The Big Empty”, Kynes tells his ill-fated guard, David, to beware of Snyder – and to implement proper protocol.
Revelation: Snyder Spills the Beans … on the IGA
Forcefully interrogated by Will, Amy, and Broussard, Snyder confesses a slew of details about the IGA. The organization sent him to Seattle to dig up dirt on Kynes. Since the IGA needs more labor, administrators within want to find out why people are flocking to Seattle “like it’s Mecca.”
Revelation: Snyder Spills the Beans … on the Island Outside of Seattle
Snyder also (reluctantly) gives up info on the island just outside of Seattle. “It’s a spaceport for transferring supplies,” he reveals. The storage underneath, however, isn’t really “supplies” – but people known as “outliers” …
Revelation/Question: Snyder Spills the Beans … on the Hosts’ Classification System. Are the Hosts Building an Army?
… Which is just one group of people classified by the Hosts when they arrived. The Hosts used Kynes’ algorithm to sort people as IGA officials, Factory prisoners, Green Zone inhabitants … or outliers, hundreds of people who are literally stored to become biological weapons. But what kind of weapons? Are the Hosts building an intergalactic army with the Outliers?
Revelation: Snyder (Doesn't) Spill the Beans … On the “Invincibility Cloak”
Still, Snyder (supposedly) doesn’t know everything. He isn’t familiar with the “invincibility cloak” that Amy and Broussard stole in the last episode (recounted in the cold open): “I’ve never seen anything like it.” It’s not IGA property, so Kynes must have stolen it from the Hosts … right?
Burning Question: Did Katie Know about Will’s Plan?
“The Big Empty” closes with a wordless scene in which Katie comforts a sobbing Will, who is clearly rattled by his experience with Snyder. Did Katie know about Will’s plan?
