Burning Revelation/Question: Kynes Can Contact the Aliens. But What Are Those Coordinates?
Kynes surveys the damage from last episode’s cold open: Alien forces have killed two “very capable” Outliers with military backgrounds. He decides to speak with the aliens – but that’s no easy task: Entering the chamber, Kynes wears intense equipment and profusely sweats. When he returns to the outside world, Kynes has coordinates written on his arm – but what do they mean? (Side Revelation #1: Kynes reveals there are 400,000 thousand Outliers, but that’s “not going to be enough” against alien forces.)
Burning Revelation: Kynes Has Secure Bunkers in Seattle
Kynes then barely escapes his headquarters – even surviving a wild ambush – to make it to one of his bunkers, “Bonzo.” There, he sets up his emergency network and plans to contact the Outliers, hoping they will take him to the Command Bunk in Bellevue Block. (Side revelation #2: “Bonzo” refers to a form of self-immolation, or suicide by fire.)
Burning Revelation: Emergency Protocol Enables Kynes to Contact Outliers
Kynes sends a video message to the Outliers, instructing them to fight their real oppressors: “Humanity is at a crossroads. You are the men and women who get to decide where it goes from here. … I believe in a future that isn’t governed by the IGA. I’m asking you to believe with me.”
After the rousing speech, Will tells Broussard: “Look around, man. This is a movement.”
Burning Revelation/Question: Both Will and Kynes Have Been Shot. Where’s Will Headed?
During the risky tactical operation to save Kynes, the former leader of the Seattle Bloc is shot and seriously wounded. His condition seems critical. Will also takes a bullet, but he leaves the safety of the bunker with a pistol and a machine gun – to do what, exactly?
