Dear Chrisley Nation:
What a week! The family has a lot going on, including something music-related in the works...so stay tuned! I promise you it is going to be very special. And speaking of special, my man Grayson turned 10 this week! Happy birthday, Grayson. We love you so much and thank God for you every day.
Now that's he's 10, Grayson's getting to the age where we have to be extra-careful about protecting him from the bad elements out there in the world — AND IN OUR OWN HOUSE. Can you believe my mother, shaking down her 10-year-old grandson like some kneecap-busting bookie? You can take the woman out of the casino, but you can't take the casino out of the woman! If my mama could, she'd turn the Juice Bar into an actual bar, so it's probably best that she stay off the payroll for now.
Savannah and Julie were the MVPs of the Juice Bar launch (no surprises there), and I'm sorry, but no one has ever looked so good dressed as a giant banana (also, no surprise). But Chase? I have to admit I was worried for a minute! How did he get to be this old and not learn the value of hard work?
It's a tricky balance. You want your kids to have more than you did, but not if they can't be responsible for it. Julie and I have been so blessed with the opportunities we can offer all of our children and investing in the Juice Bar is one way we're securing their future. We just need to trust that they won’t run it into the ground…
There was one important lesson we needed to teach Savannah and Chase this week: work is hard. When you commit to a job, you have to give 100%, even if it means weighing spinach leaf by leaf or dressing like a carrot and standing on the side of the road. When people are counting on you, you can't let them down. It's your integrity that will take you far in this life, not a pretty smile. Fortunately, I know Chase's work ethic is stronger than ever. I see it with his podcast every week and I saw it in the end of last night's episode. Now he just needs to learn that paying for the customers’ smoothies isn't a sustainable business model!
Julie and I are so proud of all our babies and continually feel humbled and blessed by them — and by all of YOU. Thank you so much for sharing in this experience with us week after week. It just keeps getting better! GOD IS GOOD. Can’t wait to see what next week brings.
