Micah is the public defender office’s intern and second year law student. Slightly androgynous and relentlessly intense, she is a buttoned-up stoic who always speaks the truth, even if it rubs her co-workers the wrong way. Micah is noticeably more ambitious than everyone in the office (except perhaps Nina) and at times comes off as an angry Rottweiler, especially when she’s showing up her superiors, but that’s only because she’s passionate about the plight of the system’s underdogs.
Jolene Purdy stars as Micah, Nina’s (Eliza Coupe, “Happy Endings”) dedicated intern, in USA’s new comedy “Benched.”
Born and raised in Torrance, Calif., Purdy began her career singing in the Disneyland California Adventure live action Aladdin production. She is perhaps best known for her role as Cherita Chen in the cult film “Donnie Darko,” where she starred opposite Jake Gyllenhaal.
Purdy’s television credits include “Under the Dome,” “Breaking Bad,” “Glee,” “Raising Hope,” “10 Things I Hate About You” and “Gigantic.”
When not acting, Purdy enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog, Mochi.
