As the mystery surrounding Cora Tannetti’s (Jessica Biel) violent act deepened in Part II of The Sinner, the show’s audiences grew larger. With an average of 3.5 million viewers over its first two episodes, the hit USA Network limited series is now 2017's number-one new cable series.
The second episode of Universal Cable Productions’ newest production surpassed the premiere in key demographics, including a higher total of adults aged 18-49 (+7% to 1.4 million) and adults aged 25-54 (+5% to 1.6 million). Ratings were likely bolstered by strong reviews across the board, which have led Rotten Tomatoes to label The Sinner “Certified Fresh” at 93%.
The Sinner centers on the dual narratives of Cora, a mother who has committed a seemingly inexplicable murder in broad daylight, and Ambrose (Bill Pullman), a detective obsessed with uncovering her motive.
The show’s highly-anticipated third episode premieres Wednesday night at 10/9c. In it, Ambrose unearths a clue that changes the course of his investigation.
