Season five of Suits raised the ante in a way never seen before -- with more shocking turns, dramatic moments, and character developments than you can shake a gavel at. To recap some of the biggest moments from season five, we've asked the cast to pick their personal favorites as you prime for new epiosdes this July.
GABRIEL MACHT: EPISODE 510, "FAITH"
“We finally get some closure on Harvey's mother issues and his trying to protect his father. Unfortunately, it turns out he beats his dad up while explaining to him that his mother was cheating on him. It was very difficult to shoot a boxing scene with dialogue in between punches with so much emotion involved... but, I think I did it justice.”
SARAH RAFFERTY: EPISODE 512, "LIVE TO FIGHT"
“I always love a flashback and in this one we not only meet Donna's dad, but we head so far back, we meet Donna as a child. And, of course, we get re acquainted with Donna's flashback hair---I should mention I also love those snap-on Lego bangs.”
GINA TORRES: EPISODE 512, "LIVE TO FIGHT"
“This is my favorite episode of the season for utterly selfish and personal reasons. And his name is Jeff Malone, as played by D.B Woodside. Jessica and Malone’s courtship was long awaited, beautiful, and torturously frustrating, only to end in a jarring and heart-breaking door slam. When Jessica goes to him, the worst thing has happened, lines are being drawn, sides are being taken, and I think she honestly believes she doesn’t have a single ally. Every decision she’s made is being judged and scrutinized by the very people who either forced her to and/or were complicit in the making of them. So for me, when Jeff confronts Mike, and defends her honor and says all the things she never could... well, it’s something that would make even the strongest and smartest and most badass woman in the world, take a breath, and believe again. Or should I say, live to fight?”
PATRICK J. ADAMS: EPISODE 514, "SELF DEFENSE"
My favorite episode from season five was 514 and not just because I had the honor of directing it. I loved that the episode launched the audience right into the trial and drops us into Trevor's testimony before going back in time and leading us up to that point. I loved that over the course of the rest of the episode, a lot of familiar faces come out of the woodwork to pledge their support for Mike Ross. I love that the bulk of the drama plays out in a courtroom which is, ironically, not a place we find ourselves very often on this show. And I love that at the heart of the episode is a conflict between Mike and Harvey about who will be representing Mike at trial. I think the show is at its best when Mike and Harvey are not in agreement about something and then have to find a way to come together for the common good. “
MEGHAN MARKLE: EPISODE 515, "TICK TOCK"
"My favorite episode of season five of Suits was episode 515 because Rachel finally hits her wall. We've seen her emotional before, as well as loveable, or impassioned or driven, but this is a side of her we've never seen. And how fun it was to play that as an actor!"
RICK HOFFMAN: EPISODE 516, "25TH HOUR"
"25th Hour" is my favorite episode of season five simply because our creator and writers do something that not many shows have ever had the guts to do…change its hook. This show may not win awards, but it certainly doesn’t give a shit.”
