MICHAEL J. LAFAVE

Show Announcer

Michael J. LaFave was named show announcer at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in 2001. 2007 marks his seventh year behind the microphone at Madison Square Garden.

For more than 30 years, LaFave has been involved in breeding and showing Basset Hounds under the kennel name Redemption Rock Bassets. With several AKC Champions to their credit, Michael and his wife Carla, a judge of all hound breeds, are Life Members of the Pilgrim Basset Hound Club and members of the Basset Hound Club of America since 1975.

Over his many years of involvement with purebred dogs, LaFave has served as President of the Pilgrim Basset Hound Club, Vice President of the Worcester County Kennel, and President of the Wachusett Kennel Club. In addition, LaFave is a member of the Eastern Dog Club, where he has served in a number of leadership roles including Group Ring Announcer, Chief Steward, Show Chairman, Vice President, and President.

LaFave has served extensively in volunteer positions with non-profit organizations and professional associations such as the Greater Worcester Regional YMCA, the Worcester Regional and Corridor Chamber of Commerce, the Boy Scouts of America, the Society for Human Resource Management, the Human Resource Associations of Central Massachusetts and New Mexico. He is also a Life Member of the U.S. Submarine Veterans Inc.

LaFave is the Founder and President of Michael J. LaFave Associates, a leadership and organizational development consulting firm. He is currently a member of the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce.

LaFave resides in Placitas, New Mexico with his wife Carla. The LaFaves currently own a Basset and a Whippet.
