Ted Robinson
Play-by-Play
Ted Robinson joined USA Sports in 1987 as a play-by-play announcer on a
variety of USA sports events. Ted marks his 18th consecutive year of
announcing Grand Slam tennis for USA Sports in 2004.
Robinson has served as USA's lead play-by-play announcer for many of
its most prestigious events including college basketball, selected
boxing events, PGA TOUR golf, and World League Football. Robinson,
along with partner John McEnroe, now calls three of the four tennis
Grand Slam events (French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open).
Robinson's broadcast resume also includes play-by-play announcer for
NBC Sports' coverage of the diving and canoe/kayaking-white water
venues at the 2004 Olympic Summer games in Athens; the gold
medal-winning U.S. Baseball team at the 2000 Olympic Summer Games in
Sydney; small track speed-skating at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in
Salt Lake City; Notre Dame basketball; CBS Radio's "Baseball Game of
the Week;" CBS Sports' NCAA basketball coverage; two years as
play-by-play announcer for the Baseball Network; four years
play-by-play calling Major League Baseball's "Game of the Week" for NBC
Sports; six seasons with the Minnesota Twins; and nine seasons
announcing television and radio for the San Francisco Giants. In
January 2002, Robinson was named to the New York Mets television and
radio announce team.
Robinson was born on July 19, 1957 in Queens, New York. He resides with
his wife, Mary, and their two children in Atherton, California.
